Paul was the Lead London Fire Brigade Officer for the redevelopment and extension of IKEA Wembley. Due to its size (the second largest store in London) and the potential to house upwards of 40,000 customers per hour creating a significant potential risk to life, IKEA Wembley was issued with an alteration notice by Paul to prevent any changes of use of the building without prior permission from the London Fire Brigade. His subsequent development project looked at relocation of the sprinkler suppression system water storage tanks to allow for the extension of the building without the need to close the store whilst the works were done, as well as looking at existing and proposed fire engineered life safety systems designs to allow the extension to increase fuel loading capacity and occupancy capacity.
